Flashcards

There comes a time pretty early on in learning where a student of a foreign language becomes overwhelmed with new words. A lot of language learning books will drown the student with more new words that can practically be learned in one or even a few settings. Students are left feeling like they understand the chapter in general and would love to move on but can't.

When this point comes, and it should come rather early on in the language learning experience, try using flashcards.

While you can by pre-made flash-cards for for many languages, there is something to be said about making them yourself. Besides the possibility of saving money, taking the time to create a flash card allows the learner to filimarize themselves with a new word and since the student will be more focused on the process of creation, they will be less likely to be overcome with the difficulty of memorization.
